Finding your way around the app (V5.x.x)
When using OpenSongApp, there are three main parts to the screen. The menus can be opened by swiping in from the left or the right of the screen (this can be disabled for smaller screens), or by using the 'Song' and 'Settings' buttons in the title bar. Performance mode is the default mode for the app and will be launched the first time you run the app, however, the menus are the same in all three modes.
There are various actions available to you using buttons in the action bar (including overflow menu) and some page buttons. Below is a list of some of the actions you have available to you (depending on device size and current activity, some actions may be hidden from the action bar or may be moved into the Overflow menu.
The action bar / title bar
You can choose to have the app automatically hide this, but this part of the screen gives you access to all of the important areas of the app. The song title gives you instant information on the currently loaded song such as the title, author and key (if set). If you want more information on the song, click on the title. This gives you a brief summary and an option to edit the song directly.
The battery icon shows the current charge and time. When the device is plugged in and charging, the charge icon background shows a green circle. When the charge is low, a red circle is shown in the background. Clicking on this area will let you customise the battery and time display.
The song menu button brings up the left hand song menu. The settings menu button brings up the right hand settings menu. The overflow menu shows you additional buttons that don't fit on your actionbar (if you are using a smaller screen). The overflow menu often often includes a button to quickly add the currently viewed song to your set and also allows you to search your song database.
If you have available WiFi displays (Chromecast, etc.) you will also see the cast icon in the action bar.
Page buttons
When in Performance or Stage mode, on the right hand side of your screen you will see the 'page buttons'. These buttons give you quick access to some of the app's features. You can choose a custom colour for these buttons, change their transparency and toggle between mini and normal sized buttons. To adjust these features, open the 'Settings' menu, choose, 'Display' and then click on 'Page buttons'. The colours are set using the 'Theme' option in the display menu. You can also choose to group or ungroup some of these buttons and choose which ones should be visible on the screen. There are also 4 customisable page buttons to add your own shortcuts (e.g. a button to show the transpose or profile menus). Page buttons are not available in Presentation Mode.

Song menu
The current song folder is shown in bold/yellow at the top of the page. You can choose to browse a different song folder by clicking on the folder icon/name. This allows you to choose a folder found in your OpenSong/Songs/ folder. Songs in the main OpenSong/Songs folder are displayed under MAIN. All subfolders are shown as separate folders. You can only have two levels of subfolders (e.g. OpenSong/Songs/Church/Christmas/ - 'Church' is the first subfolder in the Songs menu. Christmas is the second level of subfolder).
On the left of the song menu, you will find a quick find alphabetical song index. This gives a quick way of scrolling to songs beginning with different letters. You can change the size of this (or switch it off) from the menu settings page.
Each song that is listed (if it is a genuine OpenSong formatted song) shows the title, author and key. Other items show the filename (e.g. songsheet.pdf).
The checkbox next to each song in the song menu allows you to quickly add or remove it from your current set. Songs in the set are ticked, songs not in the set are left blank. Under the right hand 'SET' option menu, you can choose to show or hide this tick box.
To select a song, click on the desired song in the song menu.
Long pressing on a song brings up an additional menu to allow you to further manipulate the song (add to set, delete, rename, export/share).
Search songsYou can search the songs in your MAIN folder and subfolders by clicking on the 'Search' icon in the action bar/overflow menu (magnifying glass icon).
The search will look for title, folder author, lyrics, key, theme and hymn number. Enter a phrase to search for. Please note that the search phrase has to be a phrase as found in one of these search areas, not multiple ones).
e.g. searching for 'Gareth Evans' or 'Love everlasting' will work, but searching for 'Gareth Evans Love everlasting' will not.
Clicking on a song in the search window opens it for viewing. Long pressing on the song will add it to your current set.
When using the app, you can pull out a list of songs in your Song folder from the left edge of the screen. You can also display this list by clicking on the 'Song' icon in the title bar.
