MIDI clock
OpenSongApp gives to option of sending a MIDI clock signal to connected devices and act as a MIDI clock master device. This allows connected devices to lock to the same tempo regardless of the MIDI channel. The MIDI clock does not send time signature information and the accuracy of the clock will be limited by the speed and processing power of your Android device.
The clock sends 24 'pulses' per beat of your tempo on a continuous basis. This can use significant battery life, so use it with care! If your song does not have a tempo set, the MIDI clock will send a default tempo of 100 bpm. You will need to manually enable this option each time you start the app if you wish to send MIDI clock information.
MIDI click track
If you have a MIDI device that is capable of playing MIDI notes such as a keyboard or a drum module, you can also ask the app to send a MIDI click track to that device and have the audio from that device sent to your drummer's or other band members' in ear monitors.
If you switch on the MIDI click track option, to start playback, you will need to start the metronome in the app. You can also switch off the audio and visual metronome in the app if you do not wish these to run at the same time.
From this page you can change the MIDI channel that the click track is sent on as well as the MIDI notes and volumes to use for the tick/tock sounds. Please refer to your MIDI device for specific percussion sounds that are available. Most devices will, however, use General MIDI standards.
If your song does not have a time signature or tempo set, the MIDI click track will not work.
Please read the Metronome page for more information on setting and using the metronome song action.
