OpenSongApp is proud to partner with the iOS app JustChords and Android users running OpenSongApp can now share folders (songs and sets) with iOS users directly via the OpenChords server. This sharing works both ways!
You can choose any song folder to synchronise with OpenChords with the exception of sub folders. E.g. the MAIN folder is ok, as is a folder such as OpenSong/Songs/Band, however, OpenSong/Songs/Band/New songs would not be allowed.
OpenChords is a simplified song format that is common between OpenSongApp and JustChords, but this means it will not contain all of your OpenSongApp content. Likewise if you download items from the OpenChords server, you will not receive any app specific fields used in JustChords songs.
Select the folder on your device that you wish to synchronise with the OpenChords server.
If you receive a link from a JustChords app user, you can click on the link on your Android device to set up the synchronised folder.
Check for updates will query the OpenChords server and will notify you of any differences
Push (upload) will send new local files and any updated files to the server (you will be offered various options so you can do this in stages). If the server has additional items that aren't in your local storage, you will also have the offer to delete them. Deleted items are backed up to the OpenSong/Backups/ folder.
Pull (download) will download new files and updated files from the server (you will be offered various options so you can do this in stages). If the local storage has additional items that aren't in the remote folder, you will also have the offer to delete them. Deleted items are backed up to the OpenSong/Backups/ folder.
Force changes will force all items to be uploaded/downloaded but will delete any original files in the destination (local or remote). Use with caution
Share link: You can share access to your synchronised OpenChords folder by either using the QR code, or by using the share link.
Whilst your local folder can have full OpenSongApp formatted songs, other users synchronising with the shared OpenChords folder will only receive certain information about the song (based on the current OpenChords format v1.0.7).
The following information will be synchronised:
Filename / Title (must be the same)
Author
Copyright
CCLI
Sticky notes
Key
Tempo
Time signature
Autoscroll length (song duration)
Capo
Themes / tags
Sets that are synchronised from OpenSongApp must start with the OpenChords set category (this is to allow OpenSongApp to know which sets are part of this shared folder).
Set lists can only contain songs, dividers and custom notes. Other custom slides (images, etc. are not allowed) and will be ignored.
